Innov’Prize  Entrepreneurship Competition

The American University of leadership Morocco Foundation is delighted to announce the first Annual African entrepreneurship competition “Innov’Prize” that will take place on the first week of November 2017.

The competition will be in three days, it will start with an exhibition and elevator pitch on the (first day) followed by a business plan evaluation that would be held on (last day).

The competition will be held during the ACBSP conference, and will be on three consecutive days, where the competitors will have time to work on their projects and tasks and at the same time assist to several entrepreneurship workshops to help them with their project.

Acknowledging the expansion of entrepreneurial activities in our community, the summit has a goal to provide a platform for African and International community members a unique learning experience to create and evaluate new businesses as well as to prepare students to start a career in entrepreneurship.

 Winners of the competition can use the prize money to start their businesses, as well as the skills learned from the various workshops that would be organized for the event.

To encourage students to take part of the competition and putting their thoughts into work at realizing their dreams, we are bringing features to the conference such as entrepreneurship seminars, which would be held by professionals that we will be working with to sponsor this ward in different area of interest;

We will be inviting experts and professionals in these domains to help choose, between all the round 1 entries. The award winners will keep developing and building their ideas. For more details please refer to the Awards section.

Participants

The competition is open to everyone aged between 16 and 35 and holding a high school diploma or above.

Submissions

All submissions will be in English or French and must be submitted online; no paper entries will be accepted. Topics for submission are unlimited, nevertheless, we encourage applicants to focus on the technology and innovation driven business.

Judging process

the assessment process consists of 3 rounds: Executive Summary (Assessment round), Short Business plan (first day), and Full Business Plan Presentation which will take place on the last day of the conference.

Awards

winners will be awarded a package composed of cash, and in-kind services. The competitions will allow the participants to present their project to an international panel of investors and professionals, while making a name for themselves within the AUL community, in Morocco and worldwide.

we invite the people who are interested to submit their online application along with a 5 page Executive Summary of their Business Plan for round 1 assessment before October 15th, 2017 at 23h59.

Application
  1. Application is open till October 25th, 2017 at 23h59.
  2. Teams must apply online. No paper entries will be accepted.
  3. Entries must be the original work of entrants.
  4. Team required submitting a 5 page executive summary through their online applications.

Team Eligibility for Application
  1. The Competition is open to everyone aged between 16 and 35 and holding a high school diploma or above.
  2. The size of each team must be between 2 to 5 members. All team members must be registered members of the team. Changes of team members are not allowed after Round 2 submission.
  3. Each team is ONLY permitted to submit 1 Executive Summary for Round 1 Assessment.
  4. A team leader should be identified for each team, who will be point-of-contact with the Competition organizer.
  5. The team is not required to be a business registered company. The team can be an early stage company that had established no more than 3 years. The company can be at inventor stage or seed stage where there is an idea, a concept, or even a product, with little or no income has been generated yet. Team name has to be the same as company name and it is not allowed to be changed during the competition.
  6. Companies that have received prior investment of more than 5,000$, or ventures that have been in establishment / operation for more than 3 years, are NOT allowed to join the Competition.
  7. The equity of the company should not be changed during the Competition.
Team Eligibility for Round 2 Assessments

Each team is ONLY permitted to submit 1 Business Plan of 10-15 PPT slides in PDF format.

Team Eligibility for Round 3 Assessments
  1. Each team is ONLY permitted to submit 1 Business Plan of 15-20 PPT slides in PDF format.
  2. All members of each team must attend the Exhibition & the Business Plan Evaluation on November 2017 though it is not a compulsory for all team members to speak in the presentation.

Important Note

Note 1

By submitting a business plan, the team represents and warrants the team have all right, title and/or interest in the business plan submitted and the information it contains is accurate and complete, and that by submitting the document the team is not and will not be violating any contract or third party rights including any patent, copyright, trade secret, proprietary or confidentiality information, trademark, publicity or privacy right. In addition, the team must have the relevant IP usage right of the technology or innovation proposed to further develop the business. The competition committee reserves the rights to request at any time the appropriate proof from the team on the IP rights.

All teams are expected to abide by the rules enumerated above. AULMF reserves the right to disqualify any application that fails to conform to the rules of the Competition.
Top 12 teams entering Round 2 Assessment must attend the exhibition to be held in November during the Grand Final.

Submission Rules

Applications Submission
  1. All submissions will be in English or French and must be submitted online before application deadline. No paper entries will be accepted.

All applications are required to submit 5 page Executive Summary in PDF format.

Executive Summary Submission for Round 1 Assessment
  1. All entries are required to submit a 5 page executive summary.
  2. Must be written in English or French, not exceed 5 pages, single-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman, A4 size. Contents of executive summary may refer “Executive Summary Guidelines”.
  3. Additional covering sheeting, title page, appendices, or other pages are not allowed and will result in disqualification.
  4. Must include team name, team composition, team leader, exhibit and contents, page number.
  5. Submitted in PDF
  6. At this stage it is no need to submit business plan.

Judging Process

The Judges shall be experienced entrepreneurs, investors and academics appointed by Entrepreneurship Center.

AULMF and the Judging Panel reserve the right to disqualify any entry that in its judgment violates the “Application & Eligibility” and/or “Submission Rules” of the Competition.

AULMF and the Judging Panel reserve the right to amend the procedure and/or the timing for the competition on one or more occasions without giving prior notice to any of the participants. AULMF and the Judging Panel reserve the right to decide that all or any of the entries or plans do not meet the judging criteria, or to defer in whole or in part all or any of the cash and/or in-kind contribution awards to the following year.

The decisions of the Judging Panel are final and binding.

Judging Process
